Description
Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council of NSW (AH&MRC) was established in 1985 after a 1982–83 NSW Aboriginal Task Force on Aboriginal Health recognised Aboriginal community control as crucial for a better standard of healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. AH&MRC advises government on Aboriginal health policy and assists the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) across NSW to ensure they have access to an adequately resourced and skilled workforce to provide high-quality healthcare services for Aboriginal communities.
