Clinical Nurse Consultant – Communicable Diseases

About the opportunity: 
Join our dedicated Health Protection team and play a crucial role in safeguarding the community’s health. As part of this dynamic team, you will collaborate closely with clinicians across HNELHD, General Practice, private service providers, and local communities. Your daily tasks will involve patient interviews, infectious disease surveillance and monitoring, and responding to acute public health issues.

We provide a culturally safe and inclusive workplace, with joint governance at the heart of each service. We strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff to join our Population Health Aboriginal Network Group and Cultural Determinants Committee.

Supported by a Nurse Manager, Clinical Nurse Consultants, and Public Health Physicians, you’ll benefit from hands-on orientation, training, and monthly educational sessions through the NSW Health Infectious Disease Network. Where you’ll be working: 

The Communicable Disease team, part of the Health Protection service within HNE Population Health, plays a pivotal role in monitoring health threats and responding to environmental and communicable disease issues. The team is dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities through innovative policies, behaviours, and environments.

Requirements and additional information: 

  • Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA, with at least five years full time equivalent post graduate nursing experience.
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence and willingness to travel as considered part of the role.
  • An eligibility list will be created for future temporary part time vacancies.
