Gateway Health is a community health service providing health and welfare services to individuals, families and communities across north east Victoria and parts of southern New south Wales. We are a not-for-profit Company limited by guarantee and a registered Community Health Service under the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic).
The organisation employs over 380 staff providing a range of primary health and community services across the Ovens Murray region in North East Victoria and parts of Southern New South Wales. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Home and Community Care Worker provides home care assistance and support to people with a disability, short term impairment or chronic health condition to assist them in maintaining their independence and their connection to their community. The Home and Community Care Worker provides person-centred, strengths-based services such as help with personal care, home care, support in getting out into the community, and a break for carers. Duties may include transportation, house cleaning, personal care and hygiene assistance, assisting with meals, assisting people to access and be involved in their community, and other health and wellness related activities.
The job will be on a casual basis with varying hours between 9.00am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Thursday availability is required.
ABOUT YOU
To ensure the most effective and continuous care, we require our Home Care Workers to be dedicated, reliable and flexible with:
- A positive and supportive attitude and genuine interest in the wellbeing of others
- A strong willingness to engage in social activities, and one-on-one activities in the community
- Strong communication and organisational skills – able to manage your time and support clients to do the same in their day-to-day activities.
The successful applicant must also have:
- A minimum Certificate III in Individual Support, Community Services, or Disability or otherwise similar qualification is required.
- Microsoft Office and typing skills
- Strong interpersonal skills including effective communication and the ability to adhere to Gateway Health’s values, policies and procedures.
- A Current Victorian Driver’s license and an ability to travel.

Classification Home Care Employee Level 2 – $34.44 incl. casual loading, plus superannuation
