We aim to improve the physical, mental, spiritual, cultural and social wellbeing of our clients through innovative comprehensive programs based on principles of equity, access, empowerment, determination and collaboration.About the roleThe Registered Nurse (RN) will participate primarily in providing primary care services to young people, detained at the Don Dale Youth Detention Centre (DDYDC).In addition, the RN will provide a support role to other health practitioners both within the organisation and the community.Some of your responsibilities include:• Screening patients and treating according to standards and patient’s journey.• Preparing and delivering daily medications to young people in detention at DDYDC, (withsupervision by the DDYDC registered nurse and/or General Practitioner for non-medicationendorsed AHPs),• providing advice about healthy lifestyles, e.g., nutrition and physical activity, alcohol consumptionand quit smoking programs through brief interventions.• Undertaking administrative duties in the maintenance of client files for young people in detention.• Assisting the DDYDC clinical staff with care coordination of young people in detention.Are you the right person?You will have:• Current registration as a Registered Nurse / Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander HealthPractitioner with AHPRA.• Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in a primary health care practice.• Demonstrated experience working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.• Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated liaison andnegotiation skills with the ability to engage with people from a wide range of cultural and socialbackgrounds.• Demonstrated high level computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Word and Excel (orsimilar) as well as the ability to use clinical practice software.• Demonstrated high standard of written skills in the preparation of detailed reports, generalcorrespondence, and documentations with an understanding of confidentiality.We want you to be proud of both the work you do and of who you work for!
