Health Informatics Coordinator
The Aboriginal Health Council of South Australia Ltd. (AHCSA) is the peak body representing Aboriginal community controlled health and substance misuse services in South Australia at State and National levels.
Our primary role is to be the ‘health voice’ for all Aboriginal people in South Australia. We achieve this by advocating for the community and supporting workers with appropriate Aboriginal health programs based on a holistic perspective of health.
The Health Informatics Coordinator position is expected to operate with a high degree of independence in overseeing specific projects and strategies aimed to assist Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs) across the state of South Australia attain accreditation in accordance with applicable standards. The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective communication and working relationships with existing networks across the Aboriginal community health sector and broader sector and will operate under the principles of Aboriginal community control.
The Health Informatics Coordinator is a Full-Time, fixed term position to 30 June 2026.
The Health Informatics Coordinator is a member of the Public Health and Primary Health Care Team and reports to the General Manager Programs. It is expected that all public health medical advice is sought from AHCSA’s Public Health Medical Officer. The Health Informatics Coordinator will also work in close collaboration with the other members of the Public Health and Primary Health Care Team.
The position will be expected to work with the ACCHS in South Australia to support the services to improve their data and IT systems and processes and facilitate the development of a culture of continuous quality improvement and the requirements for achieving them.
Statement of Key Outcomes and Activities
The scope of this position will include, but is not limited to:
Assisting ACCHSs with the collection, analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of clinical data
Liaising with senior management and staff of ACCHSs to schedule training and data quality improvement activities
Assisting ACCHSs with data cleansing and quality assurance exercises relating to their clinical software
Assisting ACCHSs with the validation of health data related to state and national reporting requirements
Providing high level advice on new and existing health software and IT systems
Providing high level input on Health IT platforms at state and national levels
Interacting with key stakeholders with regards to Health IT innovations and standards as directed by AHCSA management and AHCSA Member services
Providing Member Services with advice specific to data and IT security for accreditation purposes
Networking with ACCHS staff, and developing and maintaining structures for sharing information. Collaborating with AHCSA Public Health and Primary Health Care team members to develop and utilise data analysis tools for quality improvement
Providing ACCHSs with advice and consultancy on Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) and guidance on implementation and testing of any resulting DRPs, where applicable
Contributing to AHCSA’s vision of “All Aboriginal people enjoy a high quality of health and well-being”
Preparing and writing various reports to funding bodies, AHCSA management and AHCSA members
Undertaking any other duties as requested and deemed appropriate within the scope of the role

Essential Criteria
Tertiary level training in health information management, primary health care, community health or community development and/or experience relevant to the position.
Possession of relevant tertiary qualification and/or skills in Information Technology.
Conditions of Employment
A valid National Police Certificate will be required before the successful applicant can commence in this position.
