We see health as: “Not just the physical well-being of the individual but the social, emotional and cultural well-being of the whole community, this is a whole-of-life view and also includes the cyclical concept of life-death-life” (National Aboriginal Health Strategy 1989).Who we are:Australia’s first Aboriginal Medical Service2018 Winner – Dreamtime Awards Community OrganisationWe are seeking an outcomes driven Registered Nurse to work with Aboriginal Communities to provide comprehensive clinical and primary health care as well as psycho-social needs of those attending the Aboriginal Medical Service.To be successful in this role will require:Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an acute care setting or medical practice environmentDemonstrated experience in Drug and Alcohol service provisionAble to demonstrate teamwork and work within a high calibre collegiate healthcare teamDemonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with othersStrong computer skills including Internet and email, and familiarity with health informationMust obtain/hold a certificate as a Nurse ImmuniserDemonstrated knowledge and understanding of the National Competency Standards for Registered NursesDemonstrated ability to work in Aboriginal Health, with an Aboriginal community-controlled organisationDemonstrated ability to work in a team environment, with multidisciplinary staff.Awareness of the importance of confidentiality and its applicationAny enquiries can be sent to recruitment@amsredfern.org.auApplicants are required to have the right to work in Australia.
