We aim to improve the physical, mental, spiritual, cultural and social wellbeing of our clients through innovative comprehensive programs based on principles of equity, access, empowerment, determination and collaboration.About the roleThe Senior Youth Engagement Officer is responsible for the operations and activities of the youth social support program. You will coordinate the delivery of activities and programs aimed at ATSI youth, including support and advocacy, case management, therapeutic activities and social support programs.• You’ll IMPACT the community, helping close the gap in Indigenous healthcare and wellbeing, onehelping hand at a time.• You’ll be PROUD, both of the work you do and who you work for.• You’ll work with a TEAM, alongside people who are down to earth and truly dedicated to what wedo.• You’ll EXPERIENCE and learn something new every day through the variety of your role.• You’ll embrace the OPPORTUNITY to progress your career – follow your path at Danila Dilba.Some of your responsibilities include:• Plan, develop and implement programs and activities that are culturally safe and responsive to theneeds of ATSI Youth.• Participate in the policy development, project work and service evaluation.• Advocate clients and assist them in resolving issues, particularly in the detention setting.• Work collaboratively with the DDHS Primary Health Care staff at the detention facility and withother relevant programs and services.Are you the right person?You will have:• Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history and a workingknowledge of issues impacting Aboriginal children and families, those who have come into contactwith the youth justice and child protection systems.• Demonstrated leadership and organisational abilities to understand and manage budget.• Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches, practices, knowledge and or willingness to do trainingin those specific areas.• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team in a cross cultural andcomplex work environment.We want you to be proud of both the work you do and of who you work for!
