2026 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander RTO Summit

2026 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander RTO Summit

A strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce starts with strong Aboriginal Community Controlled (ACC) and First Nations Owned (FNO) Registered Training Organisations (RTOs). On 30 July, ACC and FNO RTOs from across the country came together for the 2026 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander RTO Summit.

The Summit was a space to connect, share knowledge and strengthen the future of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander training – with delegates exploring the workforce challenges and opportunities facing the sector and sharing approaches to building a sustainable, skilled and culturally strong training workforce.

A clear message was reinforced throughout the day: cultural safety must remain at the centre of vocational education and training.

Delegates also highlighted the importance of sustainable investment in funding models that support long-term growth and workforce readiness, stronger sector-led advocacy to drive policy reform and government engagement and First Nations Led RTOs.

A big thank you to all attendees for their time, leadership and contributions. Your commitment to strengthening our First Nations training sector and supporting the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers is deeply valued.
