About the role and where you will be working
Join the new Tamworth Mental Health Unit (THMU) as an Aboriginal Peer Worker and use your lived experience and cultural knowledge to make a real difference.
You’ll build trusted relationships with Aboriginal consumers, families and carers, providing peer support, advocacy, hope and practical guidance throughout their recovery journey.
Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you’ll help deliver culturally safe, person-centred care, support recovery goals and connect people with community and psychosocial services.
About you
You’re an Aboriginal person with lived experience of mental health challenges who is passionate about supporting others and strengthening mental health outcomes in your community.
You bring:
- Cultural knowledge and connection to community
- Authenticity, compassion and empathy
- The ability to use your lived experience to build trust, hope and connection
- A commitment to advocacy and culturally safe care
- Strong relationship-building and teamwork skills
You don’t need to have all the answers. Your lived experience, cultural knowledge and passion for supporting others are what matter most.
