For Aunty Del, leadership has always been about showing up, building relationships and caring for Community. For more than 50 years, Aunty Del has served the Gladstone and Calliope communities with generosity, quiet determination and genuine connection.
As a current Director and former Chairperson of Nhulundu Health Service, she has provided more than 20 years of governance leadership. Her service has helped guide the organisation’s growth and strengthen access to culturally safe healthcare across Gladstone and surrounding communities.
Her impact reaches far beyond the boardroom. For more than 23 years, she has run The Billabong Shop, a community gathering place where young women have gained experience, confidence and pathways into employment.
Through her church, community organisations and support for older and disadvantaged people, Aunty Del has consistently strengthened wellbeing, resilience and social connection.
We proudly welcome Aunty Delphine Parter into the QAIHC Hall of Fame and celebrate her remarkable lifetime of service to Community. Melena McKeown from Nhulundu Health Service accepted the Hall of Fame award on Aunty Del’s behalf.
